Google develops tool to spot fake AI images after puffer jacket Pope went viral

Google has launched a new tool called ‘About This Image’ to help people spot fake AI images on the internet. The tool will provide "additional context" alongside pictures, including details of when the image first appeared on Google and any related news stories. This new feature will help people identify hyper-realistic pictures from the real ones, including those generated using tools such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and OpenAI's DALL-E.

The tool is intended to surface news stories about fake images that have been subsequently debunked and is designed to tackle warnings that new AI tools could become a wellspring for misinformation and propaganda. (link)

31,000 FTSE 100 logins found on the Dark Web

Researchers from Outpost24 have discovered more than 31,000 stolen corporate credentials for many of the UK’s leading FTSE 100 companies on the dark web. The researchers used their threat monitoring and auditing tool Blueliv to search for the breached credentials.

Key findings from the study reveal that 81% of the companies within the FTSE 100 had at least one credential compromised and exposed on the dark web, and 38% of the total 31,135 stolen and leaked credentials were disclosed on the underground in the past 12 months. Experts suggest that organisations should adopt more sophisticated multifactor authentication methods and a zero-trust approach to cybersecurity to protect themselves. (link)
